2 BIG games!

Gearing up tonight for 2 big games! Montreal is host to Boston, and Toronto is on the road facing off against Ottawa at Scotiabank Place. Both games are set up to be real doozies and I haven’t even decided which one I will focus on the most.

The Montreal/Boston game the other night was one of the best I’ve seen this year, with action end to end! Montreal is currently at the top of the conference, however Boston is sitting in 8th place, hanging on by the skin of their teeth.  They will be doing everything they can tonight to hold on to their position, as they can’t afford a loss, and must want to get back at the Habs for the 4-2 beating on Thursday. Boston has won only once against Montreal in the 12 games they have played against each other this year, and they don’t want to end the seasons match up on a low note!

The Ottawa/Toronto match up is also set to be a good game as I believe the last time the two teams played each other, Toronto destroyed Ottawa 5-0, which was a big surprise all around, and extremely upsetting for me. I would like to see Ottawa get them back tonight, and I think that with Ottawa only three points behind Montreal for top spot, they will be playing with everything they have. Toronto is basically a lost cause, as they are in 12th place and 5 points away from a playoff spot. The five points is not too out of reach but it will take a win tonight and an almost flawless performance from here on in. Needless to say, they also want to make the playoffs so they won’t be going out without a fight. Out of the 6 times Ottawa and Toronto have played each other this season, the wins are split.

Needless to say, these games will be exciting! My fingers are crossed for Ottawa, and I think I will be using the “return” button on the remote all evening!

songwriting/easter wishes

James has passed over his beautifull Norman acoustic guitar to me for a little bit so I can work on writing some new songs. This, I am very pleased about. With 4 guys in the band who each have the ability to construct a song, we should have no problem recording an album every six months. I have three songs in the works, and probably a dozen more in the coming weeks, just need to get the vibe going, which is  what re-runs of the bradey bunch are for.

p.s. Happy easter. I love chocolate.

interior design show west

This coming week, from March 19th until the 22nd, is the annual IDSWEST here in Vancouver. There was never anything like this is London, so iIm looking forward to the show. IDSWEST showcases some of the newest and most exciting local, Canadian, and international furnishings, fixtures and nicnacs for home design. The show has a bunch of massive sponsors such as Audi, and YellowPages, who I’m sure will have booths including free phonebooks, and a nice car, but it’s the smaller booths that I look most forward to.  Christian Woo, for example, is a Vancouver based designer, who handcrafts beautiful peices from wood. Then there is Dexel, which seems to be some kind of co-op gallery, that features one of a kind peices, made my many artisans.

There are about 100 different participants at the show, so there is something for everyone to look at. Admissionn s only $12 for adults, and $10 for youths and seniors.

Forgotten profiles. Long lost time capsules, or a waste of interspace?

It’s happened to me, and it will happen to you. Someone drops a name like Friendster or Livejournal and a lightbulb goes off… “I wonder if my profile is still up?” And like always, it’s right there just as you left it. Those sites, forever gone from your brain, are now opened up before you like a highschool yearbook, and all of a sudden, you dont know what to do with it. Should you delete it, edit it or just leave it as is? I guess that all depends on how you define your past. In many cases you read old blog posts that you would have rather never written. Other times you just wish you wouldn’t have stumbled back on it, because of the place it puts you in to re-read it. But I think the thing that gets most people are the old profile pictures. Ludicrous acts of youth, oh the hair, what were we thinking?

What you do with your long lost profiles is up to you. I like to keep mine around. It will be interesting to rediscover them 5-10 years from now, but by that time, who knows what will have happened… Google will buy facebook for 78 trillion, and 6 months later everyone will be using mylivefacespace.com, leaving facebook like a bad restaraunt. The one thing that is for sure is that you will probably be outlived by your online you. And maybe that’s a good thing… sort of comforting… you’ll still get the messages, you’ll just take way too long to write back.

catching up part 1 of ?

I’m not going to go into too many details as there is far too much to write, and I simply don’t have the energy for such digital diarheaa. I will, however, point form most of what I can remember:

1. Flew out with Westjet and it was actually pretty decent. Our poor cats didn’t like it too much and one of them was “sedated”. We arrived and were met by my friend Dane. He drove us to our new home in Vancouver where we stayed with a girl I knew from London named Rene.

2. I took a week off before I started work at my new job. I am still with the same company, and I am now a registered apprentice and should be challenging my level 1 exam in about 6-8 weeks. For the last 4 1/2 months we have been working on an old house, renovating it top to bottom, and we raised it about 30 inches. The work is really interesting, there are so many aspects to a house, it’s pretty amazing.

3. Sabrina landed a job with Mavi Jeans. She is the assistant manager at one of the new stores on 4th ave. It is really close to our place ((note: we are now living in our own apartment, and not with Rene anymore.) note 2: there were no hard feelings.) so she can walk to work. It also gives her the opportunity to window shop on a daily basis, which she thoroughly enjoys!

4. I am now singing in a band called OneStarCity. I joined about 2 months ago, and I’m liking it alot. We will be starting to record an album in a couple of weeks. We will be recording for about 3 months. We have a studio blog that will be going up real soon that will document the whole process. For now you can check out our myspace page!

5. A few weeks ago, we rented a car and drove to Canada’s ultimate surf spot; Tofino. It was pretty breathtaking. The drive took us through the old growth forests, where we saw monstrous trees covered in moss, around the edges of nail biting cliffs, and landed us on the beach of the open pacific. I will definitely get some pictures up on here asap.

I think that is enough for right now. So much more has been going on, and I will get to it in time, but for the next little while I will keep current and just get this ball rolling.

Take it easy!

Back on the blog!

Ok, so I know that it has been a really long time since I wrote on here, but seeing as how Idon’t think anyone actually reads it, then there is nothing much to worry about.  I am now, however, going to make a better attempt at updating. I won’t be starting that right now though as I am expecting someone here any moment.

I have about 7 months of life behind me now that I need to dig up from the depths of my brain… trust me, this might take a while.

until next time, see ya!

Everything is falling into place.

The list of things to do is a mile long. Slowly but surely we have been chipping away at it. We leave in 39 days, and I’m sure they will feel like 19 days. Here’s what has been done:

-Rogers knows we’re moving, and our services are set up to be disconnected.

-Hydro know the same.

-Job is set up for me for when I arrive. I will be meeting with the president and one of the project managers to figure out my position.

-Dane is picking us up from the airport and driving us to his place which will be our home for the month of September.

-The redtroutsale has been mildly successful! Most of the big items have sold, minus the aquarium, tv, tv stand. The small items can either be given away if necessary, or packed away and stored at Sabrinas parents house. Either way, this joint must be emptied out by the time we leave.

Here’s what still has to be done:

-The government doesn’t know we’re moving yet but they need to so we can keep getting our GST checks!

-I need to tell OSAP so I don’t default my student loan.

-We need to purchase some new suitcases so we can max out our luggage capacity. a.k.a free shipping!

-We need to package up all the the things we want to ship, via greyhound, and  get them ready to catch the bus.

-Our cats need to be taken to the vets to get their shots, and health certificates.

-We need to buy two cat travel carriers that meet airline standards so our cats can get on the flight with us.

-Today I am booking a suite at the Cyber Cat Lodge in Surrey BC so our cats have a home for the month of September. It seems like a great place where you can log on to the website and watch your cats through a security camera to make sure they are having fun and are ok!

-I need to start organizing pick-up dates for the people who have bough some of our stuff.

-We need to buy an inflatable queen size mattress so we have something to sleep on at Danes.  We won’t go out and buy a bed until we are into our own place.

So that’s a little rundown… there is lots more but I can’t think of it all right now. Till next time, take care!

moving sale website is launched!

So today we launched the website for our moving sale. The address for the site is www.redtroutsale.com.  From there you can take a look at almost all the items we are selling, and you can decide what you want when you come to the in-house sale which is taking place on Saturday, July 28th. A time has not yet been finalized, but it will be a long day!

So please go check out the site and our stuff!
