Move to the ‘couve, FSX, iPhone mania!

It is with great delight I announce that Sabrina and myself are moving to Vancouver! We have our 2 tickets to paradise booked on a flight out of Toronto on Wednesday, August 29th!

This all happened very suddenly. It started on a Saturday night, when I was talking to my friend Dane, who lives out there. He was going on about how there is so much work out there, and I was going on about how I keep sending my resume out to places in Toronto and the GTA and I am hearing nothing back in response. He suggested we move out there, I said that was crazy, and that was the end of it.

The next day I was talking to Sabrina while she was on a bus heading back to Toronto from Sudbury, and I was telling her about my conversation with Dane concerning jobs in BC, and she said we should move there. I did think it was a crazy idea, but it didn’t take much convincing. Just as we hung up, the phone rang, and it was an employer from a cabinet shop in Mississauga that I had applied to. He offered me a job at $11 an hour which is less than I make at Starbucks. I told him no, and told Sabrina about the call. It was a sign. We decided to move.

I wasn’t going to send out any resumes until we arrived, but then a company caught my eye so I sent them one anyway explaining that I was moving there in two months. To my surprise that was perfectly fine, and a position has been held for me for when I arrive. It is with a condo restoration company, and looks like very interesting work.

Since we are moving, we are selling off most of our stuff. We don’t want to have to do this but it is far to expensive to move it across the country, so this is the only thing we can do that makes sense. A website will be launched on the evening of July 10th at www.redtroutsale.com it will have photos of tons of our stuff for your browsing pleasure! More items will be added all the time, and then on Saturday July 28th, our in house sale will take place. Please everyone buy our stuff!

More “move to the ‘couve” updates will be happening as the days grow closer. There is so much to do and so little time!

In other news I am getting very addicted to the FSX application on Facebook. It is a stock trading platform basically the same as vsm.com even though I’m not sure if that still exists. It’s fun because you can compete against friends and comment on teir trading behavior.

Over 1 million iPhone have reported to have been activated in the first week! Thats par with Eminems “The Eminem Show” record sales, as long as Apple can keep it up for 6 more weeks!

brickbreaker update!

Level 29!

16460 points!

500,000 hits in 3 days!

…and by hits I mean purchases of the iPhone. Hey not bad at $500-$600 a pop. These are the numbers I have heard, and it wouldn’t surprise me. The hype has been extraordinary, but I guess since it is Apple, not that far out there.

new look.

I just changed the look here, and I think I like it. It reminds me of Facebook, color wise, which has a look that is very Apple, the company, not the fruit, which also reminds me,… 4 days till iPhone! I’m not going to be getting one mind you, as I am very happy with my Blackberry. I am more excited for the news reports of people being mauled in line-ups a mile long, and being robbed at gunpoint in parking lots across America. Oh what a country! I think that initial iPhone sales should have been made available online for the first month, as it would reduce the risk of exposure to targeted acts of violence, at least until the hype has died down and it’s safe to walk out of a store with one!

side note:  So there are people waiting outside the Apple store in New York as of yesterday for a phone that isn’t released until friday… oook.. wish i didn’t have a job either!

joining the cell phone age…

About a week ago, Sabrina and myself took the giant leap into the age of cell phones. I used to have one back inthe day but never used it. It was an old nokia, with zero features. As time passed, and the technology improved it seemed more and more clear to me, that i would use one in every day life.

We both decided to get Blackberry Pearls. I got a black one, and Sabrina opted for the white. What amazing phones these are, and I can hardly pry it from my hands. It is packed full of features, and allows me to plan my life, listen to music, take pictures, store contacts, surf the net, read and reply to my emails, and has the blackberry messanger feature which I love. I didn’t get a very big text messaging plan, and using my 7 megs of data, I can message Sabrina as much as I want. This phone is brilliant!

Oh yes, I am also hooked on Brickbreaker. Top score so far 10790 suckas! Level 18.

Yes! Paris Vs. Jail Round 2!

Glad to see that Paris is heading back to jail! See her crying! What a baby! I find it very funny reading the reports, where sheriff Lee Baca cites overcrowing as one of the reasons why she was released early, when we already know that she didn’t even have a cell mate!

above: Paris Hilton crying, as she is handcuffed in the back of a police car.  How sad.

A lot of people are saying that it’s being blown out of proportion  because she’s a celebrity, and I don’t know how anyone could say that. LikeI’ve said before, she doesn’t care about the law, and maybe she need this good kick in the arse to figure it out.. PARIS, YOU ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAW!

As for her medical condition (the other reason cited as her early release), they let people rot in jail. On top of that there are medical facilities at the prison which can be used. As for clostrophobia. one of the rumoured “medical conditions”, it’s JAIL! Jails don’t come with skylights.  I’m sure everyone feels a little clostrophobic when they first go to jail… maybe it’s that feeling of impending doom, one that you will never escape from!

Oh well thank you Judge  Michael T. Sauer. You made the right decision!

Go Sens Go! part 2.

As the hours tick by, and we draw closer and closer to the dropping of the puck for game five of the Stanely Cup finals tonight in Anaheim, I feel more and more content and at ease about the game. Not to be confused with more and more confident, but more at ease with knowing that regardless of the outcome, I am very proud of this years Ottawa team. As a boy growing up one hour from both Montreal and Ottawa, I must admit, it was always slightly cooler to be a Montreal fan. Ottawa was a silly little team who played in a silly little arena called the Civic Center, where no seat was a good seat, many seats were to be had, but not many made the effort to get one. The team floundered for a while, losing game after game, and most people started to wonder if they would ever get anywhere.

But Ottawa was a tough team. They faced constant ridicule, and if they were able to get though that, they were able to get through anything! Slowly but surely they started hitting peoples radars. They started winning a few games, then they started winning more than they were losing, and before most people knew it, they were a team almost always gaurenteed a playoff spot. So for a few years they were knocked out in the first round, and then for a few more years they were knocked out in the second round, and even though every year they teased their fans with a taste of the cup, they always left their fans feeling let down.

And then this year happened. We could taste the cup from the beginning. Our top line was performing better than they ever had before, and scoring goals just seemed like second nature. We got past the Devils in five, then knocked out Buffalo in five, and for the first time ever, we achieved something we never had before. Conference Champions! And on a streak like the one we were having it didn’t matter who we went up against in the Stanley Cup Finals. The cup was coming home this year.

And now we are here at game five, and we certainly won’t be knocking out the Ducks tonight. Instead the tables are turned, and we once again face elimination. With the cup so close to our grasp it may leave so many fans dissapointed yet again. But I think to myself, how can anyone be dissapointed in a team that came from the nothing, and who pushed down every wall, and faced adversity with thier fists clenched. A team that is gaurenteed to succeed, Stanely Cup or no Stanley Cup. A team that has proven that they will acheive the ultimate dream of holding the greatest trophy above thier heads, if we are patient, and let history unravell before us. I am not dissapointed. I am proud of our team, and the season they have played. And I am pround of the way they will Win or lose the game tonight. Go Sens Go!

Paris Out Of Jail???

Ok I find this very frustrating. I am not a fan of paris hilton. She has complete disregard for the law, has no responsibilities, and expects to be treated like an adult. But the big problem is, that we tolerate her behaviour. Society doesn’t treat her like an adult, they treat her like a pampered sponge.  First she was supposed to spend 45 day behind bars… then it was reduced to 23.. and now after only three days in jail she has been released..

She has to wear an ankle bracelet and cannot leave her home for 40 days… lets see if that happens… so sure she can’t go out and party and be the paris that most people know and love, but that is not “doing time”. I will actually be surprised if she doesn’t breach the terms of her release. She can’t possibly stay inside for 40 days away from the public eye.. heaven forbid people start to forget about her. I mean without her being drunk in public, of drinking and driving, I would say there’s not much to wirte about her anyway.  I’m sure the world will be fine without her. Oh how I would love it if in 40 days she emerged from her front door, the sun beating down on her skin blinding her eyes… and not a single photographer was there. And later at night she heads out to her favorite bar, and they don’t let her in… oh the glory.

Ta-da! May I introduce to you…

The piece I talked about in my last entry! It is my first self designed and built piece of furniture. Here are a few photos of it:

I call it “jengal”. The top surface is birch, and I hand banded Walnut around the edges.

Global Warming 911

From clear cutting, to greenhouse gasses, global warming, and green innovation, there is certainly a lot of talk going on about the environment. I am not a tree hugging hippie, but I understand the fact that if you keep dirtying up somewhere, it eventually becomes a disaster. Bedrooms don’t clean themselves, and unfortunately niether does our planet. If you are an eco warrior, or just an average Joe trying to learn more, hopefully you can find what you’re looking for right here. It’s not about one plastic bottle saving the world, and no one expects any one person to do it all. It has to be a global effort, and understanding that making just small changes in your lifestyle can make a huge difference if everyone pulls together, we really can make this world a better place. If you have a greenalicious idea, or want to talk about an environmental issue that really gets your goat, submit it!
